Cloud Collective is a double-story flexible, minimal, high-tech co-working space in the clouds – the first of its kind in Karachi, Pakistan, with unique features and an unprecedented view of the city of lights. It initially emerged as a concept driven and financially developed in collaboration with one of Pakistan’s leading financial groups.

It was created as a workspace for its startup investment companies and grew into a more expansive environment housing over 116 rentable seats on the lower floor (“Sky”) with special hang-out or projector presentation space (“Spotlight Zone”) and a shared meeting room (“Conclave”); and 60 rentable seats with potential for office space and executive seating on the upper floor (“Cloud”).

The flexible nature of the design allows for a modular seating layout that can be adjusted depending on the requirement. The design calls for an experimentation and emphasis on sustainable materials including cork for high performing, but cost-effective acoustics, linoleum flooring for an eco-friendlier alternative to vinyl, steel as a strong, durable, low maintenance and chemically inert building material for the cloud structures, and bamboo composing of a high strength-to-weight ratio, making a great alternative for cabinetry. This unique proposal conceptualized in a recently built skyscraper challenges both structural ideals and traditional co-working norms.
